Charge d’Affaires met with the Speaker of the House of Commons of Canada
On May 11, 2015, Mr. Dawood Qayomi, Charge d’Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to Canada met with Honourable Andrew Scheer, Speaker of the House of Commons of Canada at the Parliament Hill.
During the meeting Mr. Qayomi thanked the Speaker for the hosting and organizing the official visit of the Speaker of the Senate of Afghanistan H.E. Fazl Hadi Muslimyar, to Canada last month, and constructive meetings with Canadian officials and visiting the cities of Ottawa and Toronto. The visit of Speaker Muslimyar was a successful visit and showed that the friendly relations between our two Nations and Governments are still strong and getting stronger.
Mr. Qayomi also mentioned about the International community’s help during the past 14 years and specifically Canadian assistance and sacrifices that are not forgettable for the People and Government of Afghanistan, we will always remember that. He pointed out the possibility of Afghan parliamentarians and parliament employees to visit Canada for training and exchange purposes and to renew the parliamentary friendship committees in Canada as well as the Afghanistan. Honourable Sheer mentioned that they will work on that.
“About 60% of Afghanistan population is young, and they want the country to move toward prosperity and interaction with International community, thus this mentality is helping the Government of Afghanistan to take drastic approach to fight against terrorism and extremism and move the country forward with the help of international community and we need Canadians to be with us, as well” said Mohammad Dawood Qayomi.
Meanwhile Mr. Qayomi passed the message of invitation to Speaker Scheer for the nearest future from Speaker Muslimyar, which was received well and Hon. Scheer said they will decide after this year’s October election in Canada.
At the end of the meeting Honourable Andrew Sheer renewed the long term friendship and partnership with Afghanistan and said: because of the regional conflicts and issues todays worlds politics require close cooperation between Canada and Afghanistan.
