Ambassador Bathija met with Mayor Watson

On July 8, His Excellency Sham L. Bathija, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to Canada met with Mr. Jim Watson, Mayor of the City of Ottawa at the City Hall.
During the visit Ambassador Bathija talked about the progress in Afghanistan and expressed the gratitude of Afghans to Canadians and especially conveyed the message of Mayor of Kabul to Mayor Watson and a keen interest and possibility of sistering the two cities in the future.
In the past decade the city of Kabul has turned into a mega city with a population of over five million, he also mentioned that Kabul is in need of modernizing and any assistance that is possible will be very much welcomed. Ambassador Bathija also conveyed the needs of the Embassy properties developments and other internal issues to Mayor Watson.
First of all Mayor Watson welcomed Ambassador Bathija to Ottawa and talked about the safety, security and facilities that the City hall is providing to the Embassy and its residence and also the constant progress they make, he also shared his experience as a mayor of one of the biggest city in Canada, with the budget of four billion dollars annually and promised to see the possibility of Sister City with Kabul or any kind of assistance possible.
